"Bangun Pagi, Gosok Gigi"
My bathroom, Puchong, Malaysia

Aperture: f/5.0
Shutter: 1/500
ISO: 1600

If you're awesome and Malaysian, you'd probably be able to chant the rest of that song, or should I say, "anthem" every child in the country knows by heart:

"Bangun pagi, gosok gigi, cuci muka, pakai baju, makan roti, minum susu, pergi sekolah suka hati!"

which translates to: "Wake up, brush teeth, wash face, put on clothes, eat some bread, drink some milk, go to school with a happy heart!"

Inspired by Jian's determination, I took about 40 shots of myself splashing water haphazardly on my own face (not all of them as flattering as this). Because I didn't have a tripod, I had to place my camera on top of this huge cardboard box and a pile of books, which were placed atop the toilet bowl (so much effort!). I must say my face felt squeaky clean and wrinkly after that. Mum wasn't too happy when she saw the wet cardboard box though.

"Art In A Millisecond"
My Bathroom, VIC

Aperture: f/5.6
Shutter Speed: 1/160s
Flash: Yes

I love water droplets.
I love the balancing act
I love the defiance of Gravity.

(I took over a 100 shots, trying to capture this moment. The set up was challenging and involved a lot of trial and error. I settled on my laundry sink with a cooking pan used to house the water. I had all the lights on and needed the flash to achieve the desired lighting. It was annoying because the flash would bounce off the white tiled walls so I had to improvise and use my cooking board (grey background). )

Refer to http://www.liquidsculpture.com/ for more info on water droplet photography. I only discovered this after spending an hour and a half taking pictures! Blergh.

Kid playing at the shore
Asbury Park, NJ

Okay, I'll admit that I am a little sad about the theme, especially since all my photos from the weekend have been of water. After a few half-assed attempts at taking some sad-looking pictures of water in a glass, I decided to go with one I took at the beach.
However, one day when I am up for it, I'm definitely going to try my own water droplet photo, because Jian's picture inspired me.
So there was this cute kid playing in the water when I was at the shore this weekend... :)

"Pitter-patter"
Science Centre, Singapore

Aperture: f/2.8
Exposure Time: 1/800

The water pictures I took today didn't really turn out as expected...so, here's a photo from the weekend--it's one of the many fountains (among other things...like a dinosaur!) that are set up around the exterior of the Science Centre. Being a science centre, you're bound to find many interestingly-shaped fountains, such as this one.

I'm also looking forward to trying my own water droplet pictures in the future too!

I like staring at water droplets forming in slow motion! I like that sort of art=)

Glad to know everyone likes the picture!

Jian, does VIC stand for Victoria? Also, do mention if you're unfamiliar with any of the abbreviations I use. NJ is New Jersey, for the record.

Jing: I really like the picture. I can never do people shots up close! And I shall put up my hand like we did back in the day if I have a question..*puts up hand*...=))

Darell: How in the world did you take a picture of yourself!? DAYUMMMM. Was it on timer mode? Somehow the noise caused by the ISO1600 gives it such an awesome feel. It really seems to give it a feel of the "Bangun Pagi, Gosok Gigi" anthem. I love it=)

June: Were you using your 'macro' lense again? I love your interpretations of the themes. Always so original! Did the plant survive? I feel like getting a plant now. Hmmmm.

Jian: *giggles*

Darell: You're so cute! Hahah I love it.

June: I thought you didn't have a macro lens...? Also you should name the plant Jing. Duh.

Jing, I want to hug that kid. Eee!

June, I hope your plant is still alive. I overfed the two summer plants I had and they both turned yellow and died :(
I love how your descriptions always end up like little poems!

Jian, whee, thank you! Somehow I can't get rid of the noise. It's frustrating. Maybe more experiments are in order *wicked gleam in eyes* I can just imagine you tossing your pan of water about in your kitchen, bwahaha.

COMMENTS! i love comments.
as for my plant, it is okay. i think it'll live. i might have to repot it since it is growing too tall for the original pot, but i'm worried i might kill it.
as for jian's comment about how my interpretations are "original," they are the result of my lazy bum refusing to go out of the apartment. the heat is too much these days. also, yes, i was using my "macro" lens, in addition to my 18-55mm lens.

:D

darell, your picture and background story=win.
