Wooden shoe... coming soon!
South Street, Philadelphia, PA

Yeah. I don't know. All the lamp posts and bicycle bar things on South Street are painted bright red.

"The Flamingo and the Snail"
My garden, Puchong, Malaysia

Aperture: f/4.0
Shutter Speed: 1/40
ISO: 1600

In my mind, the calla lily and the ornamental snail shell in the far corner of my garden have a classic, endearing Cat-and-Owl relationship.

The Flamingo looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
"O lovely Snail, O Snail, my love,
What a beautiful Snail you are,
You are,
You are!
What a beautiful Snail you are!

And hand in hand on the edge of the sand
They danced by the light of the moon,
The moon,
The moon,
They danced by the light of the moon.

"Hum Dinger"
1000 £ BEND, VIC

Aperture: f/5.6
Shutter Speed: 0.6

1000 £ BEND is a new cafe in Melbourne. Same owner as Pushka. Like Pushka it has a lot of quirky stuff, which I will share on the 'free and easy' - themed weekends.

Teddy looks so comfy and snuggled up in his makeshift bed. I couldn't think of a really cool title but the term 'Hum Dinger' came to my mind when I saw Teddy in his cool Red mattress bed.

I love Teddy and 1000 £ BEND.

What is a handsome Teddy like him doing in a café? Where was he placed? Pushka and the 1000£ BEND sound mighty intriguing.

I like the word Hum Dinger a lot. I think people need to use it more often in daily speech.

Hum. Dinger. Hum. Dinger.

Oh oh, I forgot to ask an important question: does anyone else have a problem with how the blogger uploader desaturates your photo's colour?

BECAUSE I DO.

IS THAT TEDDY BEAR TAPED DOWN? his poor fur...
(what does hum dinger mean? i've never heard of it, actually...)

AND DARELL, YES, I EXTREMELY DISLIKE BLOGGER DESATURATION/OVERALL QUALITY DESTRUCTION of photos.
your photo's still very cute, as is jian's. you get extra points for adapting "the owl and the pussycat."

sorry for the CAPS, i had a little too much sugar.

Darell: I love that poem! I know the whole thing by heart hahaha. My friend Julia and I were reciting it the other day. MY CHILDHOOD. Sho cute. :)

Jian: Wow. Coffee places. I am so glad that we started blogging together. :) When I finally make it to Melbourne I know exactly where to go.....

Alternatively, we could all get flickrs and load our pictures there too, so that the others can see it in full res if we want. But I think blogger is probably better because of all the text and comments and setup?

the problem with that is that basic flickr (meaning no annual fee) can allow you to hold 200 photos--which is not enough for a whole year's worth of photo-uploading.

:(

yearly fee is around $25, which isn't much but i'd rather not have to pay for it.

Ahhhh I'm getting the warm fuzzies, knowing that you guys love the poem well too <3

Jingy, I love how the bike bar, lamp post and text are the same exact shade of orange- serendipity, much?

Yeah, no matter what a blogs setup would still be the best option. Wordpress maintains the resolutions fairly well but one downside is that it doesn't leave free room for you to make huge changes to its templates, unlike blogger where you have free reign. But then we're not aiming for awesome blog designs, are we?

Food for thought.

if we move to a new blog that provides better quality, i'm all for it. but, it looks like jing here put a lot of work into setting up colourfast5, so maybe we can upgrade to a better blog...after this year? meaning, we totally should continue doing this. forever. AND EVER.

and jian, you may find some ny street shots in the "daily outtakes" uploads on fb for today.
:D

JUNE: You left your room! How in the world did you get the fuzzy effects in your picture!? I'll go see where you went to in New York. I look forward to it! TEDDY is taped down. He/She needed a blanket. See, Melbourne has really strong winds!

Jing: Nice bike stand. I like it when they put some detail into bike stands? The ones in Melbourne are....just a metal colour and is just NEVER there when you need one. Which is very annoying. One thing I hate about Melbourne. Any red bikes as well??? And what does the Wooden Shoe do?

Darell: Contrast in colours are distinct. What a pretty garden you have! Never really been too Puchong so maybe I should go there someday! So I don't know what 'hum dinger' means but Jing used to say Ho Hum once and somehow Hum Dinger came to mind once. I like it too!=) I hope it doesn't mean anything derogatory. But anyhow, TEDDY was at the counter in 1000£ BEND. There is a fish tank too which I will capture some other time=)

To Everyone: I think I'm fine with just uploading these things onto Blogspot? We can upgrade to something better in due time but I am fine in this comfort zone!

jian, i did leave my room. and it was hot.
the fuzzy "effects" resulted from my unsteady hand (unintentional blur) and from a very shallow depth of field caused by my backwards "macro" lenses.

So apparently a humdinger is someone who is exceptional. I just thought it was that thing that scuttle in the Little Mermaid termed the fork/comb...

Jing Yi said...

you're a humdinger!

Jian Ming said...

Teddy is exceptional=) I actually just use it when something happens. It's a spur of moment reaction.Like when this bird shat on my two days ago!

Glitter said...

Jing: does that mean I'm the fork or are u calling me exceptional =), I would think its the former, and I now want an SLR!!!! grrrr...

Jian: So you said humdinger as a reaction when the bird shat on u? I am so confused =S

Jing Yi said...

Tian! I like! Man, I'm really bummed about blogspot and the resolution - I feel like the red of your picture would be so much more vivid on the computer! :)

Jian Ming said...

Christina: I use it as a figure of speech. Don't read too much into what it actually means!

Jing: Hey so I was just curious to see how much of a difference there is in the colours and I realised it is quite obvious if you put 'em side by side. Blergh
