"Don't Discriminate"
Øresundskollegiet, København

-Darell

"Lest we forget"
Shrine of Remembrance, Melbourne

This phrase, popularised by Rudyard Kipling, is always recited during ANZAC day (which is today). It is a day that remembers the Australian & New Zealand soldiers who fought in Gallipoli (Turkey) in World War I.

It is one of those central themes in Australia's identity.

Anyway, on the 25th of April every year, Melbournians gather at the Shrine of Remembrance at 6am for the dawn service. ANZAC veterans, of whom very few remain (or maybe none?), gather to remember their fallen mates.

I like the poem and the sun-shaped glimmer at the top of the shrine. did they celebrate with the 'gunshot breakfast' (coffee + rum)?
