Old Joe is the university's clock tower, and is the tallest free-standing clock tower in the world. I went to Birmingham [which is two hours away by bus] for Frank Morton's Day 2010--a day when chemical engineers from all over the UK come together to compete in sports, mingle, and meet fellow ChemE's. It was quite a long day, but it was definitely worth it, since I got to visit my father's uni :) :)

"The Green Lighthouse"
University of Copenhagen, Tagensvei, København
For my Sustainable by Design class today, we went to Copenhagen's first CO2 neutral building ever, launched in October 2009, so it's spankin' new. Can you imagine this baby as your own Student Center? There is a sundial artpiece with dentist mirrors arranged in rows to capture the scant Scandinavian sunlight installed right in the middle of the building's atrium . If you are lucky you might just be greeted by a glowing warm square of sunlight upon entering. I love how its mammoth-size just fills up the picture frame! We look so puny next to it...
Jing, June and Tian, come back! I miss you guys :(
