It snowed today! :) [It barely ever snows in Cambridge, so quite exciting for me to get my boots out. Also, I love and miss playing in snow!] You can see good ol' Darwin sitting here in the freezing cold, in front of one section of dorm rooms (New Court) in my college.
Fun fact #1: Darwin is a Christ's alum! So is Milton. And, also, Sacha Baron Cohen.
Fun fact #2: The architect of New Court intended to design it in such a way that students wouldn't be disturbed by their neighbours...so, the rooms only have a few sides that directly touch neigbouring rooms. Turns out, he didn't take into account how much heat would be lost (and, thus, money wasted) through this design [where were the engineers?!]. After realizing this, they changed the design of the second building that was to be built.

Wooo picture from Tian!
Such unsustainable design!!! *points accusatory finger at architect*
still, very cool joints...
and very smart peeps.
Tian: I KNOWWWWWW. Tell me where the Engineers are. These Architects......can't even use their blades the right way round!=D
HEY. It was an accident. A painful one at that. :/
But you're right, when engineers don't oversee egotistic architects' dreams, you end up having buildings like the CCTV headquarters (by Rem Koolhaas) in China: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/China_Central_Television_Headquarters_building.
It is also known as "The Groin", from what my friend told me. Might just be the reason why someone tried to burn it down last year...lol.
hahah! But hopefully one architect in particular has learned from it (the accident)! :P
