"For the Community"

So it was my first time shooting an event with a flash unit that I just bought. It was tough! There were so many people. Anyway, Carpets for Communities is an initiative started up whereby Cambodian people make carpets, which are then sold. All proceeds go to the people making them and the aim is to get the kids to at least have an education.

The event involved the screening of short films, some by Cambodian people, and there was also an action. In total about $ 6000 was raised! Well organised event that was a great success!

A 16 year-old boy was shot in the many regular gang fights that happen in the ward. Just two months ago a grandmother was shot on the very same street. The neighbors come, and sadly place flowers and soft toys on the cross.
